Doctorate

Is it odd that I find myself thinking of a doctoral program? Most of my peers will think I’m nuts, but those who know me best will say they knew the day would come:

Here’s the deal…
- I have to be three years removed from my Master’s program. Right now, I’m just over two.
- I have to have had a 3.0 GPA. Well, I had a 2.89, but that’s ok cause I can still get in on academic probation. (It might not have been the best idea to work full-time at a giga-church and attend the most difficult Seminary in the world full-time).
- I have to have graduated with an MDiv or similar degree. I graduated with an MACE, which is similar though not precisely the same. We’ll see if I have to take classes to bring it up to MDiv level. (MDiv-Master of Divinity; MACE-Master of Arts in Christian Education).
- It’s basically a four year program, at a price tag in excess of $12K, which ain’t that much.
- It would be at Beeson Divinity School here in Birmingham.
- I’d hope to receive a DMin-Doctor of Ministry. It ain’t a PhD, but let’s be honest, I’d never make it through that anyway.
- That would mean I’d be Dr. Young by the time I reached 32. LOL. Or more rightly, I’d still just be Kevin.

I may be nuts… but one can dream…

    Duh!

Not surprised. Dad got his D-Min. at Denver Seminary. I’d like to think once I get these loans paid off, I’d go back and tackle a Masters; I’m not sure about a Doctorate though.

You are nuts, but that’s what we love about you.

Dr. Young…still not fully comprehending that you are Rev. Young, or even better, Rector Young.

I also figured that working one full time job wouldn’t be enough to keep you busy for right now!
