…I know, its pretty hard for me to believe too!! Some said that it would never happen, and honestly I was beginning to wonder myself. HAHAHAHAHA.
Seriously though. The last year of my life has been something of a dream world. Friday, October 7, was our one-year anniversary of dating (if you count by her date… which I have been told that I must). She’s gonna kill me for saying that. LOL. And I guess she’s right. That was the night when we went to see the movie Wimbledon. I count from when I say we were exclusive, which was November 15th and an outing to Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert.
No matter how you count, the last year has flown by in so many ways. Being my first real relationship I wanted to take it slow and enjoy the journey. It’s been so amazing to get to know Sally along the way. Oh yeah, Sally Elder… that is her name. For now.
Anyway, I am on cloud nine. It is amazing how nicely the word ‘fiancee’ rolls off the lips. It sound so much better than ‘girlfriend’, especially at the age of 28, which I’ll be next week.
I had wanted to propose on our one-year anniversary when we were in Indiana together. We were planning on going to Paramount’s Kings Island that day and there is an Eiffel Tower there, one-third the size of the real thing. It seemed romantic, and a bit quirky, to do it there in that way. But alas, her brother and sister-in-law decided to have a baby that day. Technically, I guess the baby decided. So I had to wait. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
Then I remembered that she has always wanted to have a picnic at this picnic table on the side of Mountaintop Church’s mountain. It’s in a rather random and secluded place, but you can see it from the road if you look really closely. No one has ever really figured who put it there and why anyone would want it in that location. It’s WAY random.
So I spent part of this (Sunday) morning fixing sandwiches (PB&J) and other food assundries in preparation. I laid out a table cloth, plates, candles, roses, pictures of us, etc. and made sure that she knew I wanted to do lunch with just the two of us after Services. I picked her up and we headed down the mountain. When we pulled onto the side of the road she asked ‘why are we stopping here?’ Almost immediately she realized that this was the entrance to the picnic bluff on the side of the mountain. She smiled and said ‘No WAY!’
We had a wonderful lunch in celebration of our one-year anniversary since we hadn’t gotten to 2 days earlier. Then as we were packing up I asked her to close her eyes because I had one more surprise. She squinted and I said “CLOSE THEM!”
She is sneaky like that.
I came over and sat beside her. She had no idea. When she opened her eyes I was next to her, nothing in my hands. I said something about how amazing the last year has been and how I wondered if she would make me the happiest man in the world. I slid off the bench onto one knew and opened the ring box. She said, “This isn’t really happening?!?” She was definitely in a daze. I said, “Will you marry me?” And she paused, and a huge grin came across her face.
… Yes …
She laughed and I hugged her and gave her a kiss. I leaned back from her and she tried to talk but all of her words came out garbled. She was so startled she couldn’t form a complete sentence. It was so cute.
The rest, is between us. Stop being so nosy!! Sheesh

Kidding! Congrats!
I’m going to bet that you’re wrong yet again and it gets moved to early March. That will hopefully provide you with enough reason not to change the date again.

You folks act like Kevin has any say in the matter LOL
dj
Blessings on both of you…..
Congrats. I think if you took the five single Prestonwood Media guys 3 years ago(Kevin, Micah, Barry, Sam, and Geoff), and pick which order we would get into relationships, I don’t think anybody would pick that it would be the Geoff, Kevin and Barry trifecta taking the cake. Its funny how our Lord works sometimes.
WOOHOO!!!! Congratulations Kevin!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!
This will begin the most amazing period of your life. Everything up to now has prepared you for this moment — enjoy it.
Congratulations Kevin!!! I wish you two all the best. I just love happy endings!
