In this post I spoke a bit about Owsley County, Kentucky. My grandparents were raised there and my ancestors lived out their lives and are buried there. It is an amazing tale that my grandparents weave as they told stories of their childhood in the backwoods of Kentucky… a place that first received electricity less than 40 years ago and running water less then ten. Almost as amazing as the stories are the pictures…
So for Christmas this year I took my grandparent’s stories and matched them with pictures from the deep woods of Owsley County, Kentucky–pictures that I captured myself several weeks ago–and made a book for everyone in my family.
I must admit that it turned out spectacularly. You may view portions of it for free, or even purchase a copy at www.lulu.com.

FYI for ya Kev – Tolkien took a lot of the Hobbit’s last names from colonial Kentucky last names.
