[In followup to this post]
So, I e-mailed the system administrator for the Church Tech site mentioned, the one that automatically created 27,000 user accounts, login ID’s, and passwords for their e-mail list subscriber base, then sent them the information and said “Welcome to the Community,” also offering to convert them to a PRO member (for which a fee is charged. I asked that my account please be deleted immediately, and basically paraphrased what I wrote in the original post… that I considered it SPAM, unethical (if not illegal), and ultimately unwanted.
The system administrator’s reply was:
“Kevin,
I simply moved my newsletter list from one database to another. That’s not illegal or unethical. If your email address was not in my newsletter database then an account would not have been created.”
Is this common practice?
