COLORADO – The Preface

I’ve just returned from leading an 8-day trip in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Myself and 13 other men from Mountaintop Community Church set out into the great unknown for a week of mountain climbing and spiritual direction based around John Eldredge’s bestseller, Wild at Heart. The Colorado Wilderness held challenges and experiences that likes of which we’d never encountered before.

It was one of the most spiritually intense weeks of my life as well as being, by far, the most physically intense thing that I have ever done. God did tremendous things in our hearts and in our midst.

Though we had to leave many things behind, in addition to clothes, gear, personal items, and community food, my pack contained a a blank journal and a digital camera.

And though mere pictures and words can never truly tell the tale of the adventure we experienced, Starting Sunday I intend to post pictures and excerpts from that journal …in realtime. Hopefully, through the story of my experience you can catch a glimmer of what became one of the greatest experiences of our lives, and a tale that we pray to never have to live again….

Kevin- Just read through your posts. Thanks so much for posting them. I grew up in those mountains and in the TenMile and Gore ranges ( 2 months each summer as a kid – my parents were teachers who had the summers off).

Those life experiences have led me and others to do in August what you and your ??band of brothers? just did – scale a 14,000 footer.

What you guys experienced is something special that will be with you forever. There is something about being on top of a 14,000 foot peak that draws us closer to our Heavenly Father, closer to our fellow brothers and closer to the warrior heart that is inside all of us.

I will share your stories with our guys. Blessings to you brother!
