THE STORY – Colorado Expedition

The ACTS of the FOURTEEN

In the sixth year of the reign of Bush the younger, five years after the great towers fell and two years after the great leader Reagan died, a band of fourteen men from the city of Birmingham in the region of Alabama gathered together. Now these men were devout followers of the Way and they had decided to travel afar beyond the great river they call Mississippi to seek the Lord in the mountains and gain wisdom and insight into their lives.

So they traveled west in the great birds of the air and then traveled a day?s journey in the great chariots like unto behemoth to the foot of the mountain known as Blanca.

Now Blanca is a high mountain, the highest in the region. It is a stark place that looms high above the desert where trees and grass do not grow just above the valley where the great sands gather. There they met a group of four likeminded believers in the Way. This group of four was experienced in the ways of living in the mountains and taking people to the high places. Now their names were Alex, who liked to tell stories about the Lord using his hands; Brian, who is called Chuck Wagon; and Lori and Larry.

Now the men rested in the valley until the rains quit and then they rose up and gathered their shelters and their provisions and divided them amongst themselves and began the long journey up to the high place where the Lake they call Como would provide comfort. As the men traveled up the mountain they thought the Lord had forsaken them as the path was exceedingly steep and very rocky. The men had difficulty breathing as the air was thin in the high places and their burdens slowed their progress because they had to carry them on their backs as they had no beast of burden or mountain chariots with which to climb the rocks as some who lived in that land had. Even so they had set out on foot with their minds set on reaching the lake at the bottom of Blanca valley. The day wore hard on the men and they chose to stop before the lake called Como on the side of the great mountain in the foothills where others had rested before. There they found refreshment near a stream that flowed from the lakes of the high places and was always cold as the high places had snow well into the growing season. After the men broke bread they worshipped the Lord for the provision of the place where they were encamped. Now the men were amazed at the heights even though they had not yet reached the high places.

The next day they again continued on the steep and rocky trail to the lake called Como. Now the men marveled because they were seeing animals that are only found in the high places and they said to one another ?We have never seen anything like this.? As the men were getting used to the high places and the ways of the mountain, they began to let their hearts be wild and even entered into the mountain ritual of cleansing in the lake which made them scream like young maidens. Once again they fellowshipped in the Lord and the Lord refreshed them and shielded them from the heat and the rain.

Now to go to the highest place that is called Blanca the men needed to leave during the fourth watch. Early in the morning they rose up and prepared themselves and then began the journey using the candles that did not burn to light their way up the great mountain. Part way up the mountain dissension arose amongst the group and they were divided about the care of one of the believers who was ill, so they called a meeting to bring resolution to the matter. After much discussion and testimony, they sought the Lord in prayer and the Lord was glorified in how the brothers settled the matter as many of the brothers shed tears of distress. After this they came to a lake that is called Crater where some of the brothers gained wisdom and insight and decided they did not need to press on to the highest place. Now the path onward became exceedingly difficult and many in the group had to walk like the he goat or he ram using all fours because of the large rocks and the steepness. At each rest stop the brothers were in awe of the Lord?s handiwork as many miles were visible and they could see both the expanse of the desert land and the valley of the sand. They could also see other snowcapped high places as they continued up to the highest place. Now many in the group became sore afraid and trembled as young maidens. Their strength left them because of the sheer drop offs and the heights that made them dizzy, but the hand of the Lord was upon them and they encouraged one another and lifted one another from place to place. Finally they reached a point that was small and they could no longer go any higher as they had reached the top of the highest point that is Blanca Peak and they were amazed and rejoiced and praised God and said, ?We have never seen anything like this!?

Now the men captured images of themselves in various stages of celebration with the boxes that make time stand still. Then they rested and refreshed themselves with colored water that tasted like medicine and ate various nuts and other delicacies that are found in the mountains, and some slept. While they were eating and drinking two Great War Eagles flew very close. Now the Great War Eagles are faster than the wind and they bring great destruction on the enemies of the Lord. Now the warriors on the back of the Eagles caused the Eagles to turn on their sides in full view of them all, and they were amazed and rejoiced and the men shouted loudly saying ?We have never seen anything like this!? After much feasting, celebration and merriment they sought the Lord in prayer and tears of joy flowed because they had new understanding and insight into the love and mysteries of the Lord. They then set their minds and heart toward the summit, which for that day was found at the foot of the mountain they had come to call Blanca beneath both Crater Lake and the lake they called Blue where they would find the rest of their group resting at the lake they called Como.

The walk down the mountain was fraught with slippery rocks that moved as if they had a will of their own and not a few of the men stumbled along the way. Dancing with Poles lie at one point on his back looking like a turtle that had been uprooted. The men held their breath as they waited to see if he would rise and breathed a corporate sigh when he rose and shouldered his pack with new purpose. The heavy air began to ease the pressure they felt on their heads and water became plentiful once again. They soaked in the wonder of journey and through exhausted but full eyes they observed they ways of the wild hearts that had been stirred within them and they saw clearer and clearer the pictures of truth that the Lord their God was revealing to them.

Upon reaching the Lake they call Como, the saints reunited with their brothers and were overjoyed to see one another and to hear the wondrous accounts of what the Lord had done in the presence of each man. They shared of the Great Eagles and the escaped fish. The boxes of fire had been prepared by the men in the valley for the men in the mountains and there was a oneness of love, service and blessing. The men in the valley shared of the loss of strength in one of their men and the group gathered together to pray for their friend and to thank God and encourage one another in the Lord.

Now one of the fourteen continued to loose strength and was in great distress. His body would not respond to the encouragement of the saints or their earnest prayers. When he was not restored by the morning of the fourth day the men gathered to pray for a chariot to help them get their brother to the house of healing which they knew was a four day foot journey to the west. Then they took down their shelters and gathered their belongings and strapped them to their backs to begin the journey down from the high place to the house of healing trusting that God would provide a chariot for their friend in his time of need. Each man carried a piece of their brother?s belongings and in so doing set him free from his burden so that he could walk. As the men descended the mountain they took many rests so that he could allow strength to return to his body. During this time Larry revealed the secrets to many mysteries and caused the men to think deeply. The walk was slow and arduous, but God blessed the men and sent forth a chariot, the owner of which was a man of trust and compassion. When the chariot owner met Alex on the side of the trail he felt compassion for the men and loosed his hold on his chariot, dispensing it for their use even though it would mean that he and his family would need to walk much further themselves. This giving spirit amazed the men and they praised God and they said, ?we have never seen anything like this!?

Now Brian was a man of medicine and had been charged with the care of the sick brother. He also taught in the house of learning in the middle region of the Providence of Tennessee. He was not however experienced in the craft of charioteering and the road he would need to travel to the house of healing was exceedingly treacherous. Memorials of those who had not succeeded in navigating the mountain chariots on the road had been found by the fourteen as they had made their way up the road. This knowledge distressed him and he was sore afraid. Now one of the fourteen was accustomed to the ways of the mountain chariot and offered to help in the navigation of the chariot off the mountain with the brother. This pleased Brian and together, with the help of their God, they took their wounded companion to the foot of the mountain where they found the great chariot like onto a behemoth. They mounted the great chariot and made their way to the house of healing where they obtained help for their friend.

As this was all coming to pass the other men continued to leave the high places on foot. A short while thereafter another of the men became so afflicted with pain that he could not stand upright. Again the men divided the burden of one man and divided it this time between ten. Then they gathered to pray and ask God to once again deliver them in their distress and to send a mountain chariot to their aid. They continued down the trail with men staying by their afflicted brother?s side helping him to walk and catching him when he would stumble. They continued to minister to him with encouragement and to their delight he was an encouragement to them as well. Still another man suffered as he had years before and lost his ability to bear weight. Two of the brothers immediately picked up his burden and carried it between them as they continued down the trail and the prayers of the men were diligent, their hearts patient, but their bodies tiring. Then God said to the men in their hearts, ?which is easier to say? Your sins are forgiven or to send a mountain chariot in the heat of the day on a desolate desert road in your time of need? But so that all will know that God alone has authority on earth, I will dispatch two mountain chariots in your time of need to carry the wounded men and their burdens.? He then did just as he said and two chariots arrived in His time and carried the men to their summit at the foot of the mountain they called Blanca.

The rest of the men, having seen God work such miraculous deeds in their midst, walked forth from the mountain with heavy burdens on that same desolate path where heat dwelt without mercy ? but they walked with confident hearts, full of joy because of the Lord their God, trusting in Him with all their hearts and leaning not onto their own understanding. They recognized God?s hand in all these things and rejoiced in the way He had directed their paths. They gathered in small groups throughout the evening marveling together at what God had done and saying, ?We have never seen anything like this?.

The next morning the men gathered into the chariots that run with many horses and traveled to a place where they could bring sacrifices of time and worship the Lord their God. And He met them there as they paid homage to Him, and He spoke to their hearts about the ways of their God and the ways of a man?s heart. And they listened to him there and some wept openly in their midst and they joined together there in both prayer and thought.

Then they sojourned to the house of healing in the city of Alamosa to meet with their brother who was recovering there. From there they tested themselves in the art of listening and then departed to a place where people gather to honor a man with a wild heart and there they ate their fill and enjoyed fellowshipping one with another. They spent the evening encouraging one another with their words and then rested comfortably in the valley that is full of sand having reached their summit at the foot of their Mountain Top experience.

In the morning they broke down their shelters for one last time and prepared to travel to the east in the great birds. They parted with the four from the region of Tennessee who left them small parcels of gold to remind them that their faith, (though sorely tried at times,) was far more valuable than any precious gem, (even gold which perishes though it be tried with fire,) and had proved genuine being found to bring praise, glory and honor to their father in heaven, Jesus Christ.
